First thing is – what is a cookie? Yes, while I am showing a cookie on screen, the cookie we’re talking about is actually a teeny tiny code that the website puts on your browser when you click a certain link. Let’s say I visit ClickFunnels, they’re going to put a code on my browser to track different things.
So, how does this work for affiliate marketing? Well, when someone goes through ClickFunnels through your personal affiliate link, it will put a cookie on their browser that will stay there even if they log off or shut down their computer.
Now, if that person decides to buy something from ClickFunnels, they’re going to check and see if a cookie exists, and assuming they did come from your link and your cookie is there, you get commission! It’s that simple!
